Getting Noxubee County Court Records
Know which office holds the file before you ask. Circuit cases sit with the Circuit Clerk and Sixteenth Circuit MEC. Chancery cases sit with the Chancery Clerk and Fourteenth Chancery MEC. Justice Court in Macon, Brooksville, and Shuqualak each use local contacts, and a federal record goes through PACER or the Southern District clerk.
Give the clerk the court, case number if you have it, party name, approximate date, and the specific document. Name the specific document too. Ask whether the file is electronic, legacy, sealed, expunged, or handled by a separate procedure. A narrow ask usually wins. Ask for a docket sheet plus one named order, not an undefined file. A land index can find a recorded instrument. It will not open the whole case file.
- Identify the court and record family.
- Gather the case number, date, and document description.
- Use the applicable MEC or records portal when that path is documented.
- Call, visit, or mail the clerk for an unavailable, legacy, or certified record.
- Confirm current charges, payment method, and delivery procedure before ordering.
Noxubee County Clerk Record Paths
Freda Phillips serves as the Noxubee County Circuit Clerk. The official CourtInfo page places Circuit Court at 505 South Jefferson #3, Macon, telephone 662-726-5737. Gwendolyn Graham is the Noxubee County Chancery Clerk, and the Chancery CourtInfo page lists 2832 Jefferson Street, Suite 4, Macon, telephone 662-726-4244. The two offices keep different subject-matter records. They are not interchangeable.
Justice Court records start with Deanna Sanders, Justice Court Clerk, at 662-726-5834. For municipal court records, begin with the court named on the ticket or notice rather than assuming a county office holds them.
Court Record Types
A Noxubee County court record can take many forms. The file may hold a docket sheet, complaint or petition, summons, return of service, motion, notice, order, judgment, transcript, exhibit, cost bill, appeal paper, satisfaction, or any record accepted into the file. What you can inspect or copy depends on the court, the file's age, restrictions, image quality, and local procedure.
- Docket sheets track dated case events and settings.
- Pleadings state the requests and responses filed with the court.
- Orders and judgments record judicial action.
- Recorded deeds, liens, and plats use the Chancery land-record path.
- Traffic files can include a citation, disposition, payment record, or court order.
- Estate and guardianship files can include petitions, letters, accounts, inventories, and orders, subject to access limits.
Let the record type shape the request. For a status question, ask for the docket and current disposition. For a judgment question, request the final judgment, the relevant order, and the docket sheet.
Noxubee County Legacy Record Requests
Noxubee County's electronic history has a cutoff. The Fourteenth Chancery CourtInfo page gives an August 10, 2015 MEC go-live date, and the Sixteenth Circuit page lists November 6, 2023 for Circuit Court. Cases older than those dates may sit on paper, microfilm, or scanned files. Some are a mix of formats. Even newer cases can contain scanned older items or restricted material.
If an electronic search misses a Noxubee County record, ask the clerk whether it is a legacy file, which office holds it, and whether a docket sheet, index, or document copy is available. A missing portal result does not prove the case never existed. Note the request date, office contacted, quoted fee, and any stated restriction. Keep these for your own file.
Note: A clerk can identify a record path. But a clerk cannot advise how a document affects a legal matter.
Inside a Noxubee County Court Record
The docket sheet is the chronological guide to a Noxubee County case file. It points to filed pleadings, motions, settings, orders, judgments, payments, appeals, and closing events. The controlling language lives in the actual documents. A docket entry may say an order entered. The entry does not explain the order's full content. A final judgment label alone does not settle later appeal or stay questions.
| Case number | The court identifier used to match the request to the correct file. |
|---|---|
| Pleadings | Petitions, complaints, answers, motions, and other filed requests. |
| Docket sheet | The dated index that locates filings, settings, and court actions. |
| Orders and judgments | Signed court rulings and final dispositions where available. |
| Exhibits and transcripts | Separate materials that may have their own access or ordering procedure. |
| Restriction status | A sealed, expunged, redacted, or confidential status that can limit release. |
Noxubee County Land Index Limits
The official Noxubee Chancery land-record portal searches recorded instruments by name, date, instrument number, book and page, instrument type, legal description, parcel ID, or subdivision and plat concepts. That makes it a handy index for a deed, lien, or plat. Here is the catch. The portal itself says its Internet index is not the official courthouse index.
A recorded deed is not a court case. A land dispute can appear on a Chancery docket. It can also appear in a separate instrument record. So verify any important result with the Chancery Clerk, and ask for the correct official or certified copy. The portal charges a nonrefundable 3.5% online credit-card service fee with a $2 minimum. Copy price and certification show up at checkout.
The Mississippi Ethics Commission public-records page lays out the broader statutory access framework.

The state resource helps distinguish public-body request rules from the separate court-file process.
Fees and Certified Copies
An ordinary copy serves for information only. A certified copy carries the clerk's certification for uses that require authentication, so tell the Noxubee County clerk which form you need. No single local price table covers every record type. Ask for the current fee and accepted payment method rather than relying on an estimate.
| Item | Documented charge or procedure |
|---|---|
| PAMEC remote search result | $0.20 per page, including a no-match search, under published non-attorney terms. |
| PAMEC registration | $10 annual Attorney or Non-Attorney registration fee, subject to current portal terms. |
| Courthouse electronic viewing | Free public viewing under MEC procedures; copies may have charges. |
| Land-portal card service | 3.5% nonrefundable service fee with a $2 minimum for online credit-card copy transactions. |
| Certified local court copy | Confirm the current clerk charge and availability before ordering. |
The PAMEC non-attorney terms govern remote access. Confirm any clerk charge that applies to a particular record before you pay.
Noxubee County City Record Requests
Municipal records in Noxubee County run on their own track. They sit apart from the county court docket. Macon's official forms page lists a Public Record Request link. So for any Macon municipal record, call the city clerk first. Ask whether a written request is required. Ask whether your item counts as a city public record or a municipal court file.
Brooksville and Shuqualak each have a documented municipal clerk contact. Neither town posts a public record form or an online docket search. Need a citation, a disposition, a court date, or a copy? Contact the municipal office named on the ticket. Give them the citation or case number, the date, and the type of record. Say whether you want an ordinary or certified copy. Need city contacts? The official municipal directory is the place to look.
Sealed Records and Public Access
Mississippi's Public Records Act lets you inspect and copy many county and municipal records. Just follow reasonable procedures. Court records are different. They answer to court rules, statutes, orders, and electronic-access procedures of their own. Only part of a record may be protected. You can still ask for the reasonably segregable public portion. And note that an executive-branch public-record request never substitutes for a court clerk's own process.
Key Mississippi rules:
Miss. Code §25-61-5 covers inspection, copying, procedures, timing, redaction, and written denials for public-body records.
Miss. Code §25-61-7 provides the actual-copying-cost framework.
Miss. Code §43-21-261 protects Youth Court records and calls for an authorized process.
Miss. Code §99-19-71 governs expungement through statute-specific procedures.
Some records need extra care. Sealed, expunged, youth, family, guardianship, medical, victim, and protected-identifier files all fall in that group, so never request or publish private information the clerk is not authorized to release.
Noxubee County Federal Record Route
A federal Noxubee County record lives in a different system from the state courts. The Southern District divisional listing shows Noxubee assigned to the Northern Division, tied to Jackson. For federal civil, criminal, or appeal records, go through PACER or the federal clerk. Bankruptcy is its own channel. The Southern District bankruptcy court gives you the bankruptcy clerk's information plus its PACER and CM/ECF route, and those official federal sources show a separate file system and fee schedule. A state MEC record request cannot pull a federal docket, a bankruptcy petition, or any federal court document.

The county listing gives the federal routing context for a Noxubee County record search. The bankruptcy court source marks off the separate federal bankruptcy channel.

Bankruptcy records travel through the federal court's own record route, never a county clerk request. The PACER fee notice explains a fee change coming January 1, 2027.

The announced federal change is not a current Noxubee County state-court copy fee.
